Thank you for choosing Platinum Professional Services

Please take a moment and write a review on Facebook

For California Tax Preparers: Platinum Professional Services will report your completion to CTEC within three business days and to the IRS every ten days. You may then register online at CTEC.org.  Please be aware of the annual October 31st for continuing education, Platinum will be reporting your completion on this day up until 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time. If you are late renewing your CTEC registration you have until January 15th to renew. Again, Platinum will be reporting until 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time. Platinum Professional Services offers the required bonds for Tax Preparers and Notary Publics in California.  Remember, it is unlawful for a Tax Preparer to prepare tax returns in California unless he/she is currently registered with CTEC and has a $5,000 Tax Preparer Bond in place. Notary Publics are required to have a four-year term and $15,000 bond. Notaries must obtain the bond before you are sworn in as a Notary Public at your County Clerk Recorders office. Do not delay, you have only 30 days from the date of the Secretary of State's mailing to obtain your bond and be sworn in as a Notary.

For New California Tax Preparers: Now that you have fulfilled the qualifying education requirement, you are only steps away from finishing your registration to become a CTEC Registered Tax Preparer (CRTP).  Please remember when providers say they will “send or upload your information to CTEC,” it means they are reporting your education hours online. It does NOT mean you are registered with CTEC. This is simply for your convenience to complete the registration process online.

Registration for new preparers begins November 1st each year. You have 18 months from the completion date stated on your course completion certificate to register with CTEC; otherwise you will be required to retake the full 60-hours of qualifying education.

Online new or renewal registration is REQUIRED
•To register or renew online go to www.ctec.org click on Tax Professionals
•You will need the following information:

o Personal information (Including Social Security Number)
o $5,000 tax preparer bond

o PTIN

o CTEC registration fee $33

o Visa or MasterCard

After your initial registration, you must complete 20 hours of continuing education from a CTEC approved provider and you must renew your registration by October 31st each year thereafter. Starting November 1st the late fee will be $55. CRTPs who fail to renew their CTEC registration by October 31st will have to pay a $55 late fee, a total $88 renewal registration.

There is a “grace period” that will be from November 1st through January 15th of the following year. A preparer who does not renew by January 15th of any given year, his/her registration will expire, and he/she would require retaking the 60-hour qualifying education course from a CTEC Approved provider and register as a new preparer.

For Non California Tax Preparers and Enrolled Agents: Platinum Professional Services will report your completion to the IRS every ten days.

Recently, the IRS has received a number of certificates of completion directly from tax preparers. Please note the you do NOT need to submit their certificates of completion to the IRS. Platinum will submit the information on your behalf every ten days.  Even though preparers don’t have to submit their certificates to the IRS, per Circular 230, Registered Tax Return Preparers, Enrolled Agents, and Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents must retain their records of continuing education for four years. To view your completed CE log into your account at www.irs.gov/ptin.

Remember, all Tax Preparers are now required to obtain a Personal Tax Identification Number (PTIN) with the IRS.  Click here to obtain your PTIN.

Thank you for choosing Platinum! We look forward to servicing you again.
