Our tax courses are approved by the California Tax Education Council (CTEC) and will satisfy your 2008-2009, 20 Hour Continuing Tax Education and 60 Hour Qualifying Tax Education Requirements. Please note, the current 20 Hour and 60 hour tax education courses are based on 2007 tax codes, so make sure you refer to the correct tax publicatons when answering the questions.

20 Hour Continuing Tax Education Course
If you are not currently Registered as a California Tax Preparer and would like to get started with the process involved to become one, then scroll down to the 60 Hour Qualifying Course below.

Follow the steps below to complete the process. And remember, start today and pay only $27.95 with no additional shipping or processing fees.
- STEP 1: Follow this Link to the IRS and California Tax Publication sites at the bottom of this page to download the required reading material. Publications sometimes take a minute or two to download, so please be patient. For the Federal Questions you will need the 2007 Publication 17, Your Federal Income Tax Booklet, (Primarily pages 131 - 197); IRS Publication 334, Tax
Guide for Small Business; and for the State Questions you will need the 2007 California Personal Income Tax Booklet , the Guidelines for Determining Resident Status Booklet, (Publication 1031) and Supplemental Guidelines to California Adjustments, (Publication 1001).
You will need the freely available Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the Publications.
- STEP 2: Link to the Online Enrollment Form here (Do NOT use the Enrollment Form for the 60 hour offline course. Be prepared to complete the Form. You will need a Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card or American Express Card for payment and your assigned CTEC number. Your CTEC number starts with the letter "A" and is followed by a series of numerical digits. Please make note of your self-selected User Name and Password, as you will need this information to login to the Course. You can go directly to the course at www.PlatinumProStudies.com/elearning
- STEP 3: Once enrolled you may start the Course. The 20 Hour Continuing Exam consists of a total of nine units. Each unit has 15 to 20 questions. Once a unit is started, you must complete it in its entirety in order to save your answers. Once you submit your answers, at the end of each unit, you will immediately receive a grade for that unit. A passing score of 70% or better is required to successfully complete each unit. Once graded, you will have the option of viewing any questions that were answered incorrectly. If you do not pass, you may retake each unit, up to a total of five times, at no additional charge.
- STEP 4: When you have completed the last unit of the course, and all previous units are complete click the "Go Back" button on the unit 9 grading page (the page that gives you your unit score). Next, click the blue arrow button. You will then be navigated to a page, with a header reading "TAX 20 Print Certificate of Completion", click the blue arrow again when on this page. Next, navigate to the home page of the e-learning site. Click the sea-green color course button, and then scroll-down to the option "TAX 20 Print Certificate of Completion", click on this. You will then be notified of your certificate of completion being sent to you via e-mail. Within 30 minutes you will receive your Certificate of Completion. If you do not receive your Certificate, check your "Junk" or "Bulk" e-mail file - it may be there. Please Note: Allow three to five business days before registering with CTEC to allow updating of your file. Platinum Professional Studies reports the completion of the Course to CTEC electronically, which allows you to go to www.CTEC.org and renew your registration online.

Online 60 Hour Qualifying Tax Education Course
If you are not currently Registered with CTEC as a California Tax Preparer and are looking for a course to complete the year 2008/2009, 60 hour qualifying education requirement (120 self study hours) that will allow you to register with CTEC as a California Tax Preparer - then you have come to the right place. The objective of this course is to prepare you to properly complete a personal federal and California tax return for most individuals. If you are currently Registered as a California Tax Preparer and would like to complete your annual 20 hour Continuing Education requirement, scroll up to that section on this page. Individuals looking to complete our General Tax Course can do so by completing the Federal portion only of the 60 Hour Qualifying Course.

Offline 60-Hour Qualifying Tax Education Course

- STEP 2: Go to the Enrollment Form Page. Print the out the Answer Sheet, as well as the Enrollment Form. Note: To view the answer sheet and exam you must have the freely available Adobe Reader.
- STEP 3:Link to the 60 Hour Federal and State Exam questions. Links to both of these exams can be found on the right hand side of the Enrollment page, or you may click the link above. Print both exams. Take the 60 Hour Federal and State Exams using the reading material as a resource (open book test). Please note, the 60 Hour Federal Exam consists of 400 questions and the 60 Hour State Exam consists of 130 questions. Also to view the exam you must have the freely available Adobe Reader.
- STEP 4: Fax or mail your completed Enrollment Form, and answer Sheet along with the $169.95 course fee (see enrollment form for details). If paying by credit card, please do not forget to include all of the requested credit card information.

If you chose to take the offline 60-Hour course and received a passing score of 70% or better on the Exam, your Certificate of Completion will be sent to you (via U.S. Mail) so that you can register with CTEC for the upcoming 2008/2009 tax season. If you chose to take the online course, your certificate will be presented to you when you complete the course via e-mail. For individuals who are interested in completing only the IRS General Tax Course, you will receive a
Certificate that summarizes your tax knowledge that you can present to current or potential employers.
